Tamdhu Single Malt Scotch Whisky has enjoyed success with industry accolades in 2023, scooping fourteen awards at some of the spirits sector’s most prestigious competitions.

The sherry matured single malt collected a hat-trick of awards at the annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival in Scotland’s North East. Distillery manager, Sandy McIntyre, was awarded the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival Ambassador Award for 2023. A prestigious award that recognises individuals who support and promote the Festival. The 12 Year Old was named ‘Best Whisky’ in the 12 and under category, and the 18 Year Old won ‘Best Whisky’ in the 13 – 20 Year Old category - highlighting how respected the sherry matured single malt is among its Speyside peers.

The 18 Year Old, the latest release in the brand’s core range, has also enjoyed great success overseas. The dram was awarded Double Gold at the San Francisco Wine and Spirits Competition, underlining the drams quality credentials on the world stage. Tamdhu Batch Strength 007 also won Gold at the competition.

Most recently, Tamdhu collected three gold awards at the International Spirits Challenge, a prestigious event on the whisky calendar which celebrates only the highest calibre of spirits. The 12 Year Old, 18 Year Old & Distinction II were the expressions selected by judges for a rare treble of gold awards.

At the International Wine & Spirit Competition, the 12 Year Old also scooped a gold award, marking an impressive tally of fourteen awards for the year so far.

Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu Distillery Manager, said: "We’re always delighted to see Tamdhu recognised for its quality – especially by such prestigious and well-respected judging panels. Our dedication to exclusively sherry cask matured single malts is embodied by everyone at the distillery, so it’s great to see this acknowledged.”

Owned by family firm, Ian Macleod Distillers, Tamdhu uses only the best Oloroso sherry seasoned American and European oak casks giving the award-winning single malt its natural, dark amber colour, intense richness on the palate and its deep, long finish.

Tamdhu exclusively matures in sherry seasoned casks, which are crafted in the family cooperages and bodegas of Jerez, Spain for up to 6 years before beginning their journey to Scotland.
